Calibre FAQ

General Information

What is Calibre?

Calibre is medical dictation software that works like a scribe for your practice. It listens to the visit — in person or virtual — and writes up a structured, sign-ready note while you move on to the next patient. No typing, no dictating, nothing in the room beyond the phone in your pocket.

What kind of notes does it write?

Calibre writes structured clinical notes, including:

  • SOAP notes
  • Physical therapy documentation
  • Procedure notes
  • Custom templates based on your specialty

You always have full control to edit and approve before submission.

How fast are the notes ready?

In most cases the note is ready less than a minute after the visit ends. You can edit, approve, and export it immediately.

What specialties does Calibre support?

Calibre is tuned for:

  • Primary Care
  • Physical Therapy
  • Pediatrics
  • Cardiology
  • Orthopedics
  • Mental Health

…and more. Note formats keep improving based on clinician feedback.

Is Calibre available internationally?

Yes. Calibre supports English-speaking clinicians worldwide, with more languages and medical standards on the way.

Technology & Integration

How does Calibre capture the conversation?

Secure audio capture on your phone, or through your telehealth platform. It listens passively during the consultation — no wake word, no interruptions — and stays out of the way.

Does Calibre integrate with my EHR?

Yes. Notes push directly to Athenahealth and Oracle Cerner, and you can copy or download notes in your preferred format.

What technology is behind this?

Automated speech recognition and language software transcribe the visit and draft the note. Nothing is decided clinically by the software, and every line stays yours to edit and sign. The full technical detail — including our subprocessors — lives in our privacy policy and BAA, and we'll answer anything specific in a sales call or security review.

Privacy & Compliance

Is Calibre HIPAA-compliant?

Yes. Fully HIPAA-compliant: a BAA is signed before you record, and all data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Recordings aren't stored without your explicit permission.

Who owns the notes?

You do. Calibre never claims ownership of your clinical content. You control what happens to your data at every step.

Pricing & Support

How much does Calibre cost?

$150 per user per month, or $1,500 a year. Every plan starts with 14 free visits — no card required. Custom pricing for larger clinics.
